So...I thought it would be fun to suggest some fanfictions to each other. When you post, please post the link, the author's name, the fandom, and a little description on why you like it. Then, if you see anything interesting, you might have a new fanfiction to read.
My first one is called Once Upon a Golden Afternoon by Pash. It's a fanfiction based on the original books Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. You just need to know the basic storyline to be able to read though.
What's interesting about this story is that the style is quite different from other stories you read. It just has a distinct "Alice" feel to it. And you also can never really predict what will happen and what exactly is going on. It is a slow-updating story though and it only has six chapters plus the prologue.
No one else has been updating, but I figured I would add some more anyway. Cause I'm bored. Anyway, I'm trying to suggest stories anyone can read...
This one is called Picture This by TrudiRose. This is based on the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast. It's an alternative universe with an interesting "what if?" question. What if Beast (or Adam, as fans call him) never existed? Would Gaston get the girl?
Of course, Gaston/Belle sounds ridiculous. She's an intelligent young lady with her head in the clouds. He's an arrogant jerk. However, the story surprisingly ends very believable, romantic, and leaves you begging for more (thankfully there is a sequel being written ). I'd recommend this to anyone, especially those who like Disney, specifically like the movie or story BatB, or those who like unlikely pairings.
I personally have never really been into Beetlejuice even though my dad loved that movie. I thought it was alright. I have also seen a few episodes of the cartoon series years ago. So, I wasn't really planning to read Beetlejuice fanfiction, but I stumbled upon this little gem: The Second Time Around by Msmelanie.
If you know the movie (hopefully you do) and have seen the show, you may have noticed the continuity error (or ignorance). In the movie, Beetlejuice is banished and Lydia hates him. However the show, supposedly the sequel, they are best of friends. This story offers a possible explanation. It's not out-of-your-mind amazing, but it's well written, the characters are in character, and it's a nice story.
First, have you seen Studio Ghibli's The Cat Returns? If you haven't, rent it now. I am serious. It's a wonderful movie.
Basically it's a sequel to Whisper of the Heart (directed by Hayao Miyazaki) about a young writer who's inspired by a cat figurine named Baron. This is also a good movie, but not required to watch to enjoy the sequel (in fact, many watch the sequel not realizing it is one). The Cat Returns is possibly a story she wrote about the cat figurine.
It's about a girl named Haru who saves a cat from getting run over. It's turns out this cat was a Cat Prince and is whisked away to the Cat Kingdom for marriage. It centers on Haru and the help of the Cat Bureau which Baron runs to escape. It's an awesome movie and a great fandom (most of the stories do end by being AU in there).
Alright, now that you have seen this movie, here's the story. This is my favorite Cat Returns fanfiction called The Lady's Maid by Youkai Yume. It's an AU where Haru is a maid to Louise and accompanies her to Louise's fiancee's* estate. Her fiancee happens to be Baron. Unfortunately, Haru finds herself falling for him.
Only bad thing about this story is that it hasn't been updated since 2008 (not too bad).
