Alright, I have a rant about this message forum and I hope you guys will read the whole of this post.
My rant has nothing to do with the message forum itself. Heck, I think it's a great idea. I get to reconnect with Ruka-Chan since our old forum got closed, I get to post my stories to more people, and I get to talk to more people that are interested in writing and improving their skills.
My rant is simply about the lack of reviews here.
Rachel told me that some of the slowness that Writing Gems has been experiencing lately is because of the lack of reviews. Why is this such a problem?
But I understand. I have been posting Ascendio to lackluster replies. The two posters who replied to that thread are people close to me who would have read it even if it was only on fanfiction.net. Heck, I get more responses at the MMAD fanfiction forum and sadly a lot of members are very young and kinda painfully illiterate. And I get a lot more reviews on fanfiction.net from people I don't know. There isn't a lot of reasons for me to post stories here.
I am however and not just because I'm close to the owner and that I'm an administer. The idea of a writing community honestly appealed to me.
So if the idea appeals to you, remedy this situation! It's easy! Okay, I'm going to use an old technique of FFN authors, but it works. If you review someone else's story, they will probably be interested enough to read yours and review, even if they didn't like it (and in case yours is a fanfiction, don't even know the fandom). If someone reviews your story, review theirs. I do have another idea to help increase reviews which I might tell Rachel soon, but it's a gimmick and I rather not try to use it.
So don't complain about the lack of reviews. Review some other people's work, especially if there aren't any previously. If you don't know what their going on about, at least point out errors in the writing and suggest methods they can employ to improve.
In fact, I'm going to try to review every story here. I can't right now currently (I apologize), but after that AP test, expect to see your story (if I haven't already) reviewed by yours truly.
Rant over and Gifted (unfortunately) has to leave and do homework and study (). I hope you're encouraged to leave comments to this rant and of course, other stories.
