We all know why most these history haters dispise it? Yeah, it's just a series of dates. I adressed this in one of my pieces if you have read them. Now, people can't see how it all connects, and I partly blame it on the history teachers for teaching it this way. when you ask someone about history it' just a whole bunch of dates for you, and if you look in your book it's like that too. However, it's a finely woven story of mankind. Before I read Peikoff's The Ominous Parallels and started on Manchester's A World Lit Only By Fire, that's what I thought myself. Discuss!

What bugs me most about history is that everyone thinks it's pointless to learn about the past. It's like "Hello? Aren't we in an economic crisis? Didn't a huge depression happen in the 30s?" Geez.
So...your interested in the idea of Big History? That's mostly as I see it as too. You might want to read A Fleeting World by David Christian then. I never really memorize dates. I just think of history as a huge backstory to what's happening today.

Yes, and everyone is running around blaming this depression on everything, and it's like, "I don't care about history, I am in a economical chrisis!" Lets check out the thirties and you won't dare blame this crisis on capitalism or anything else, but government spending.
